KE Import Toyota Vehicles to Kenya
RHD required. Currency reference: KES.
Duty & VAT
Kenya applies a 25% import duty on the CIF value, plus excise duty (reduced for EVs) and 16% VAT. Electric vehicles benefit from a lower excise-duty rate than combustion vehicles under KRA's current schedule. Rates shown are indicative only based on publicly available general schedules — always confirm current duty, VAT and any EV incentives with a licensed customs broker in-country before ordering.
Used-Vehicle Import Rules
Kenya enforces an 8-year maximum age rule for used-vehicle imports, measured from year of first registration — vehicles older than 8 years cannot be cleared.
EV Incentives
Kenya reduced excise duty on fully electric vehicles to encourage EV adoption; import duty itself still applies at the standard rate.
