We grade every used Toyota on a four-tier scale — Grade A, B, C, and D — based on body condition, interior wear, mechanical health, mileage, and documentation. Grade A is retail-ready with no accident history and under 80,000 km; Grade B is clean with minor cosmetic wear; Grade C is mechanically sound with visible cosmetic defects; Grade D is project or parts stock. As a direct exporter, not an agency, we inspect and grade the vehicles we own, so the grade on the invoice is the grade on the container — not a broker's optimistic guess.
What does each used Toyota grade actually mean?
Grades are not marketing labels. Each one maps to a defined inspection standard.
- Grade A: under 80,000 km, verified mileage, no structural repair, original paint on all panels, interior near-new, full service history, cold A/C, no warning lights. Suits retail dealers and private buyers.
- Grade B: 80,000–140,000 km, minor panel repaint or one replaced panel, light interior wear, engine and transmission within spec on compression and OBD scan. The volume grade for African and Middle Eastern dealers.
- Grade C: 140,000–220,000 km, visible scratches, dents, or faded paint, worn seats, but sound drivetrain and no structural damage. Priced for fleet and taxi buyers who will repaint locally.
- Grade D: high mileage or accident history, sold as-is for repair, parts, or project use. Full disclosure of faults in writing before sale.
How do we inspect and verify a used Toyota before grading?
Every unit passes a 120-point inspection before it is graded. We run a compression test on each cylinder, an OBD-II scan for stored and pending codes, a transmission shift test under load, a coolant and oil analysis, and a chassis check for accident repair or flood damage. Mileage is cross-checked against auction sheets, service records, and ECU data — odometer fraud is common in the used market and we reject units we cannot verify. Body panels are checked with a paint-depth gauge to detect hidden filler. The result is a written report with photos, video, and the assigned grade, sent to you before you pay.
Which grade should an African or Middle East dealer buy?
Most of our trade buyers order Grade B: it delivers the best margin after local prep, and the mechanical condition is strong enough to carry our 12-month powertrain warranty. Buyers serving taxi and minibus fleets often choose Grade C and budget for local paint and interior work, which is cheaper in-market than paying for Grade A FOB. Grade A is for dealers with retail showrooms and private buyers who want a turnkey unit. Grade D is for rebuilders and parts traders. We will tell you honestly which grade fits your market — including when a cheaper grade is the smarter buy.
